How it all began
We kept meeting families who had noticed something at eighteen months — and were still waiting at five years.
Working alongside paediatricians and community health workers, we saw the transformative power of early intervention, and how few children reached it in time. Across much of the continent there are only a handful of developmental specialists for millions of children, and referral queues stretch for years.
We also recognised a structural gap: the absence of objective, rapid and scalable screening that a nurse or community health worker could run without specialist training. That is what Cleavaren was built to be — a crucial link in the chain of timely intervention, designed for African care settings from the start.

To make early autism screening accessible, affordable and scalable across Africa by pairing artificial intelligence with clinically informed tools that healthcare workers can trust and use in ten minutes.

To close the gap between late diagnosis and timely intervention, so that a child in a rural health post has the same chance of early identification as one in a capital-city teaching hospital.
